The Madison American Friends Service Committee invites members of your faith community to a special celebration of the 90 birthday of the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). By coincidence, 2007 also marks 60 years since the AFSC was awarded the Nobel Peace prize for its work in Europe during and following World War II.

Location: Madison Friends Meeting (Quakers)
Date: September 19, 2007
Times: 6:30 – 7:00 Reception
7:00 – 9:00 Speakers

We are very pleased that Mary Ellen McNish, General Secretary of the AFSC headquartered in Philadelphia and Michael McConnell, AFSC Regional Director for the Great Lakes region will speak about the current work of the AFSC.

For 90 years the AFSC has been committed to social and human justice for all people, but especially those whose voices generally are not heard by those in positions of power. It is committed to the principles of nonviolence and justice drawing on the transforming power of love in its work.

We hope members of your faith community will be able to join us for this evening of celebration and to learn more about the current work of the AFSC.
