Earth Week Activities at Edgewood College

Secretary of State Doug La Follette, a founding organizer of the original Earth Day in 1970, will speak out on today’s environmental challenges at an Edgewood College Earth Week forum on April 19, 2004. Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz will also deliver a “State of the Environment” speech at this public event, which starts at 7:00 p.m. in the Edgewood College Sonderegger Science Center.

Edgewood College students, faculty, and staff have organized a highly diverse series of events to mark Earth Week 2004, ranging from flower planting by school children … to roundtable discussions by local business leaders … exhibits of student “Eco Art” … faculty discussions of Native American environmental thought … a “how to” presentation by an Edgewood staff member who powers his diesel car by recycling the College’s used cooking oil … and more. All events are free and open to the public. For details please see the following schedule or contact Tim Andrews at TeAndrews@edgewood.edu, 663-2254, or Richard Nagel at RNagel@edgewood.edu, 663-2333.
