Growing up in an "Oasis of Peace"

For over 25 years, the residents of Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam (the "Oasis of Peace") have been living, working and raising their children together as equals. The village is home to over 50 families, a bicultural Primary School and an internationally acclaimed conflict management program at the School for Peace. The community has been nominated five times for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Laila Najjar, who is Palestinian, and Adi Frish, who is Jewish, both 21 years-old, were two of the first children born in Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam. Their parents were co-founders of the community in 1978. Laila and Adi attended the community's integrated, bilingual Primary School together and they remain the best of friends.

You are invited to meet Adi and Laila as they share their insights about growing up and living in Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam.
