Dear Friends of Madison Rafah Sister City Project, Just a reminder that the three members of our recently-returned delegation to Rafah will give a presentation about their trip this coming Sunday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Monona. During the week of January 11-18, Jennifer Loewenstein, George Arrida and Cisco Bradley of MRSCP traveled to the middle east in order to visit Rafah and to meet with municipal officials and community organizations to talk about working together as sister cities. All three succeeded in getting to Jerusalem and the West Bank, however, only Jennifer got in to Rafah. In the space of only three days, Jennifer met with seven different groups as well as many individuals. George and Cisco visited Jerusalem and several towns in the West Bank while attempting unsuccessfully to enter Rafah. All three will give a presentation featuring slides and narrative, with ample time for questions and answers throughout. It should last about 1-1/2 hours. Please join us on Feb. 1 to hear about the delegation and our plans for the upcoming year. One thing we learned from our trip: Rafah needs our help desperately, and the community activists and officials there have provided us with very detailed information about how we can link up with their efforts. The meeting will be held in the Fireside Room at St. Stephens, 5700 Pheasant Hill Dr., Monona. Directions are given below. Hope to see you there. As always, if you are unable to attend but would like to be contacted about helping with our committee work, please respond by e-mail. Sincerely, MRSCP jsarin@facstaff.wisc.edu Directions to St. Stephens: From US-12/18/Beltline going east, take the MONONA DR exit (Number 265). Turn LEFT onto OWEN RD.
