Looking for a Few Good Community Members!

A report on the University's efforts since 1997 to improve the UW-Madison climate and services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people will be released to the public on Wednesday evening, May 5, at 7 p.m., in Memorial Union (Check TITU). The report will be issued by the Faculty Senate Committee on LGBT Issues, chaired by Professor Joe Elder in the Sociology Department.

The UW-Madison Faculty Senate established the Committee on Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Issues in May 1994 for the purpose of "fostering lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) scholarship and considering concerns about services for and equity toward LGB students, faculty, and staff." In April 1997, the Committee submitted a report to the Faculty Senate describing what it had done since its inception and including 18 recommendations for further steps needed to improve equity. (The Committee has since added Transgender people to its name and scope.)

Join us for a strong show of LGBT community support! All LGBT people and allies welcome! Wednesday, May 5, 7 p.m., Memorial Union.
