Buses are going to Washington D.C. for INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY -- Stand Up for Peace and Justice. Hope you will all come! Information follows.

COME TO WASHINGTON D.C.

STAND UP FOR PEACE & JUSTICE ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

SATURDAY MARCH 8 2003
11 AM RALLY
1 PM MARCH TO ENCIRCLE THE WHITE HOUSE

Join thousands of women and men from all walks of life for this amazing women-led peace convergence.

Join with Alice Walker, Michelle Shocked, comedian Janeane Garofalo, Dr. Helen Caldicott, Granny D, Barbara Ehrenreich, Nobel Peace Laureate Jody Williams, Medea Benjamin, Starhawk, and many others for the rally and march.
Buses will leave Madison (UW Memorial Union) on Thursday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m., arriving in Washington D.C. Friday at 8:00 a.m. The itinerary of activities follows:

CELEBRATING WOMEN AS GLOBAL PEACEMAKERS

Friday, March 7 -- 9 am-5pm, Teach-in
For a Just Peace and Real Security, Listen to Women for a Change!

Saturday, March 8 -- 11 am Rally
March to Encircle the White House – 1 pm
Women’s Community Festivities – 8 pm
Dance Party – 10 pm

Return: Bus pickup at 1 am Sunday, arriving Madison 9 pm Sunday

This will mean one night each way on the bus, Friday night sleeping on the floor of a church (bring mats, sleeping bags, etc.). Bus will make short rest stops every 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and timing. Food is on your own. Transportation within D.C. will be on your own. We will provide maps and transit info for events.

Cost: bus $90.00, donation for church space $10.00. Full and partial scholarships may be available if needed. Make checks payable to: STAND UP (include email address for updates).
